Christmas Greeings from Canada!

Warmest – and I do mean that literally – Christmas greetings from the land of moose (I’m still trying to find out if the plural is ‘meese’), maple leaves and people so nice they are almost walking, talking hot chocolates.

Since the fam and I arrived here back in August, life has progressed rather nicely, if at a slower pace than we’re all normally used to! I’m happy to say the community here seem to have given me a rather large bear hug of the pleasant variety, with some very exciting possibilities opening themselves up for 2008.

Notable moments thus far include:

- MCing at the ever-amazing Banff Centre for the Second City Toronto Touring Company’s comedy show Laughter Gone Wild, a fundraiser for the conservation foundation Y2Y (Yellowstone to Yukon Conservation Initiative).

- writing a weekly column in two newspapers here – the Canmore Leader and the Banff Crag & Canyon – which basically just comprises meant-to-be-mildly-amusing takes on various aspects of life in Canada as an Aussie lady.

- appearing on radio station Mountain FM as a guest to perform my latest comedy song It Ain’t Easy Being a Grizzly. They’ve very kindly invited me back to perform some new songs in 08, including my latest work-in-progress inspired by the word ‘Vegemite’ – can’t wait!

- and busting out wicked snow moves with the kids, including the awesomeness that is tobogganing, ice-skating and polishing it all up with a hot chocolate afterwards. My daughter is also doing the French immersion program at school – I’m blown away by how much she can say and understand already, which will no doubt be massively convenient as a conversation starter when I finally do meet the Frenchly kiddified Johnny Depp – while my little dude is enjoying preschool Canada style a couple of afternoons a week. He’s already called me ‘mOm’ once. Yikes!

Gig-wise, I’ve had the good fortune of performing at Calgary’s Comedy Cave and with the folk from the Calgary Funnyfest, and on New Years Eve will be doing my champered up act for the merry folk at the Canmore Town Hall NYE party. Dig it.

Anyhoo, wherever you are, may your days be merry and bright and may all your Christmas be…well, whatever colour they are.

With lots of love and thanks for your support,

Jenny. Xx

Coming Up in 2008:

Residency at the Banff Centre (to work on my new full-length comedy show)

Romping and stomping at Montreal Comedy Festival in July

And, at the risk of sounding like a reality television promo...much, much more. Keep checking back for updates, I'll be getting a LOT better at keeping my site updated regularly, promise. It is, after all, my New Year's Resolution.

Happy Holidays!!
